Empowering rural entrepreneurs for sustainable growth:
In Togo’s Maritime Region, individuals face numerous challenges in starting and sustaining micro-businesses. Action10 is committed to addressing these challenges and fostering economic development.
Background and Context:
Poverty persists in rural villages, which have very limited access to financial resources and opportunities. Despite these challenges, many people in the area are determined to improve their economic situation and create a better future for their children. Traditional financial institutions are often inaccessible, leaving most with limited options for obtaining loans.
Supporting Micro-Businesses in Togo:
Our programme targets rural villages in the Maritime Region, providing small loans, training, and coaching to 200 women entrepreneurs. Women organize into cooperatives, ensuring collective accountability and support for repayment. Activities include bookkeeping training, workshops, and weekly coaching sessions on accounting and business management.
Success and Impact:
Through dedicated support and engagement, we’ve seen remarkable progress. Entrepreneurs engage in diverse businesses, from selling agricultural produce to offering tailoring and hairdressing services. With careful monitoring and follow-up, most participants have successfully repaid their loans, demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach, and freeing donations to support the next person in need.
Our mission is to offer business loans to local entrepreneurs and raise awareness. Our vision is a shift of paradigm where aid dependency has been replaced with international partnership and extreme poverty has been eradicated.
