Circular Donations

Your donation will be re-used over and over again

Action10 offers concessional business loans to carefully selected local entrepreneurs who provides products and services that improve livelihoods for poor people. For you, this means that your donation will go beyond one-time support and have a long-term impact instead. 95% of your donation is invested in local entrepreneurs.

This is how circular donations work:

1. Enterprise preparation
Human Rights & Science (HR&S) carefully selects local entrepreneurs eligible for the Action10 business loans. The loan-takers become members of our local HR&S Support Centres where they are offered training, financial auditing, expert advice, network, and physical infrastructure. The businesses are continuously reviewed and offered support.

2. Your donation
You can choose to donate any amount to a specific enterprise, to a country or to our programme in general and thereby allow HR&S to assess for which enterprise your support is needed the most. The support can be a one-time donation, occasionally or a monthly contribution.

3. Money transfer
Action10 transfers 95% of the donated amount to one of the HR&S Support Centres.

4. Money use
The funds are given out as business loans to local enterprises. We target local entrepreneurs who provides products and services that improve livelihoods for poor people.

5. Repayment
The loan is repaid to the local HR&S Support Centre with 10% interest.
Note: As a result of the harsh realities, corruption being a social norm, lack of social security, and lack of rule-of-law at the locations where we operate, the loans are sometimes not paid back fully, at all or in time. We can ensure you though, that the loans are paid back to the highest level possible. If loans are not paid back fully or on-time, the amount is usually paid back eventually, as the partnership deepens and mindsets change.

6. Money re-use
The loan is reinvested in the scaling-up of a new enterprise. The 10 % interest income is used to empower the HR&S Support Centre.
